Playbook Pal Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Playbook Pal website, the Playbook Pal app, and related services. They form an agreement between you and the individual operator of Playbook Pal, referred to in these Terms as "Playbook Pal," "we," "us," or "our." By creating an account or using Playbook Pal, you agree to these Terms and the Playbook Pal Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1 Who May Use Playbook Pal
You must be at least 13 years old to create or use a Playbook Pal account. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Playbook Pal only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who has reviewed these Terms.
Children under 13 may not have an account. Players appear on a roster that their coaches manage and do not need an account. If you use Playbook Pal for a team, club, school, league, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms and use the service on its behalf.
2 Accounts and Access
You must provide accurate account information, keep your email address current, protect your login credentials, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account unless prohibited by law.
Access to a Team is controlled through invitations and permissions in the app. Do not invite a person or grant access unless that person is authorized to view the applicable content. Playbook Pal may remove access or require additional verification when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service.
3 Athlete Information and Minors
Coaches may add players to a team roster for legitimate coaching and team administration purposes. Roster entries may include a player's first and last name, jersey number, positions, and availability. For a player under age 13, enter only the player's first name and last initial, or first initial and last name.
Do not enter a child athlete's phone number, home address, precise location, age, date of birth, medical information, or similar sensitive information. Do not add a child to a roster unless you have appropriate authorization from the child's parent or legal guardian, team, or organization. You agree to honor a valid parent or guardian request to correct or remove the child's information and to notify Playbook Pal when assistance is needed.
4 The Service
Playbook Pal provides tools for creating and organizing sports materials such as plays, drills, practice plans, lineups, rosters, Notebook Pages, team information, notes, and diagrams. The coaches on a Team can share and collaborate on that Team's content, comment and @mention each other in entries, and receive notifications about Team activity.
A coach can share a Practice Plan or Notebook Page by link. Anyone with the link can view that content without signing in until a coach turns the link off, so share only content you are authorized to share and do not include sensitive information in it. Practice Plans and Notebook Pages may embed YouTube videos, which YouTube provides under its own terms. Playbook Pal does not currently provide public posting, private direct messaging between users, or external file, photo, or video uploads. Features may evolve over time. If a change materially affects privacy or these Terms, we will update the applicable documents and provide notice when required.
5 Your Content
You retain ownership of content you create in Playbook Pal. You grant Playbook Pal a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, back up, and otherwise process that content only as needed to operate, secure, and support the service for you and the users you authorize. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for limited backup, security, legal, or transaction records that may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to create, store, and share your content through Playbook Pal. You are responsible for ensuring that content does not violate another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or other rights. Playbook Pal does not sell your content or use private app content for third-party advertising.
6 Acceptable Use
You may use Playbook Pal only for lawful sports planning, coaching, team administration, and related purposes. You may not:
- access an account, team, group, or organization without authorization;
- collect, enter, expose, or misuse personal information in violation of law or these Terms;
- enter prohibited sensitive information about a child under 13;
- harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, or endanger another person;
- post, share, or send content that is obscene, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer, interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to bypass the security of the service, except where a restriction is prohibited by law;
- upload or transmit malicious code or use automated means to burden the service;
- use Playbook Pal to infringe intellectual property or other legal rights; or
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without written permission.
Playbook Pal does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. To report content or conduct that violates these Terms, email support@playbookpal.co. We will review reports promptly and may remove content, remove a user from a Team, or end access to the service.
7 Playbook Pal Ownership
Playbook Pal and its software, interface, visual design, branding, and service content other than user content are owned by the operator of Playbook Pal or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose.
8 Feedback
If you voluntarily provide ideas, suggestions, or feedback about Playbook Pal, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or compensation. This does not give us ownership of your private plays, drills, playbooks, team information, or other app content.
9 Payments
Playbook Pal is currently free. If we offer paid features in the future, prices and terms will be shown before purchase, purchases made in the app on Apple devices will be processed by Apple under Apple's terms, and we will update these Terms before charging for any feature.
10 Operational Communications
You agree that we may send emails reasonably necessary to create or secure your account, authenticate access, communicate service changes, and respond to support or legal requests. If you turn on notifications, the app may also send push notifications about activity on your Team, such as @mentions. Playbook Pal does not provide private direct messaging between users.
11 Availability and Changes
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain, secure, or improve Playbook Pal. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device or platform. We will try to provide reasonable notice before discontinuing a material paid feature when practical, subject to urgent security, legal, or operational needs.
12 Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Playbook Pal at any time, and you may delete your account at any time in the app, from your Profile, or by emailing privacy@playbookpal.co. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or harm, failed to pay applicable fees, or used the service unlawfully. When practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue, but immediate action may be taken to protect users, children, the service, or others.
Sections that by their nature should continue after termination will survive, including provisions concerning ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability, and disputes.
13 Privacy
The Playbook Pal Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and is incorporated into these Terms. You agree to comply with that policy when entering or managing information about another person, including an athlete.
14 Sports and Safety Disclaimer
Playbook Pal is an organizational and coaching tool. It does not provide medical, safety, legal, or professional certification advice and does not replace the judgment and supervision of qualified coaches, administrators, parents, guardians, medical professionals, or governing sports organizations. You are responsible for confirming that practices, drills, plays, facilities, equipment, and athlete participation are appropriate and safe.
15 Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Playbook Pal is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Playbook Pal will meet every requirement, produce a particular athletic result, preserve every item without interruption, or be free of errors or security risks. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Playbook Pal and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from or related to the service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of Playbook Pal and its operator for all claims related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to Playbook Pal during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limitations do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited.
17 Responsibility for Claims
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for claims, losses, or costs arising from your unlawful use of Playbook Pal, your violation of these Terms, your content, or your failure to obtain required permission before entering or disclosing another person's information. This section does not require you to compensate Playbook Pal for claims caused by Playbook Pal's own unlawful conduct.
18 Disputes and Applicable Law
Before filing a formal claim, you and Playbook Pal agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve the issue informally by email. These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to the relationship and dispute, without limiting any consumer protection rights that cannot be waived. No arbitration requirement or class action waiver is included in these Terms.
19 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Playbook Pal changes or as legal requirements evolve. We will post the updated version in the app or on the Playbook Pal website and update the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when required by law. Your continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept them, except where law requires a different form of consent.
20 General Terms
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect and the affected provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or these Terms without our permission. We may transfer these Terms as part of a lawful transfer of the operation of Playbook Pal, subject to applicable notice and privacy obligations. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement concerning your use of Playbook Pal unless a separate written agreement expressly applies.
